Combining painting with clay is a natural evolution for me. My hope is that each piece is delightful to hold and a pleasure to use.

As a young woman, Barbara chronicled her love of nature through detailed and delicate pen and ink drawings. Her connection with ceramics began when she was mentored by a dear family friend, whose influence led Barbara to begin a life-long exploration of the medium. Pottery became not only a form of aesthetic expression, but a deeply personal form of finding balance in her life. The supportive community of potters in Eugene, Oregon provided inspiration, which led to an increased commitment to developing her craft. Barbara's most recent work echoes her earliest drawings of natural forms on both functional and decorative bowls, plates and platters using porcelain, mason stains, underglaze and tissue decals.
